A group of 20 community leaders – who have pledged to raise $1,000 per person – each started jumping into the lake once an hour Friday at 2 p.m., and they will continue until today at 2 p.m. Accompanying today’s plunge will be a free Winter Festival community and business expo with 60 booths at Castaic Lake from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A heated tent will also be set up and parking for the event will be free. “(Today), it’s supposed to be 82 degrees,” Clark said. “So instead of a winter festival, it might be a summer festival.” If you go CASTAIC – A Special Olympics group wants its supporters to go polar – and plunge into Castaic Lake today. The second annual “Freezin’ for a Reason!” which will benefit Special Olympics Santa Clarita Valley, is being organized by the Santa Clarita station of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. “This year it really took off and more community members got involved and more people wanted to take part in it,” said Chris Clark, director of Special Olympics Santa Clarita Valley.
