His final football season behind the microphone was Tennessee’s 1998 national championship season, and he retired for good following the ensuing basketball season.Ward never missed a game in more than 350 consecutive broadcasts. (Photo by Christian Petersen/Getty Images)Kyler Murray is an accomplished passer, but his running ability was also a major reason why the Arizona Cardinals selected him No. 1 overall in this year’s draft. Murray can extend and make plays with his legs. The multi-sport star has ample speed. Though he didn’t run the 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine or his pro day, Murray claims he clocked a 4.3 the last time he did it.That was “two, three years” ago according to Murray, but a new Instagram post from a Cardinals workout shows his wheels are still elite. In it, Murray is going neck-and-neck in a sprint with fellow rookie Andy Isabella.Isabella, a wide receiver out of UMass, timed at 4.31 in the 40-yard dash at the combine. That type of speed is what makes Murray so enticing a prospect. If he’s in the open field, look out.Murray’s skill set and athleticism should make for a transition to the NFL that is fun to watch. He’ll have his share of growing pains, but he’ll also do things that wow you.

Rohit Paniker New DelhiMarch 28, 2019UPDATED: March 28, 2019 11:49 IST Kidambi Srikanth survived a scare in the first round of India Open 2019. (BAI Photo)For the Indian shuttlers in the men’s singles event, the Day One at the Yonex-Sunrise India Open was one filled with struggles and last-ditch comebacks. For long, they have played at the fast-playing courts of Sirifort Sports Complex. For them to win at the KD Jadhav Hall here, the challenge was real.Paltry shots, unforced errors and battling the minimal drift inside a bigger indoor hall made it difficult for both Kidambi Srikanth and Sai Praneeth to tame their lower-ranked opponents, before they pulled up their socks to come out winners.World No. 24 HS Prannoy, on a comeback trail, churned out a gritty win while PV Sindhu had a cakewalk of a match against fellow countrymate Mughda Agrey.Amid the stardust at the stadium here, unheralded Subhankar Dey stole the limelight when he stunned World No. 9 Tommy Sugiarto in the first round.World No. 44 Dey shocked the Indonesian fourth seed with finesse and crafty shots while his energy on court got the crowd excited. After losing the first game 14-21, Dey bounced back in the next two games, running away winner 22-20, 21-11.Srikanth, meanwhile, was a victim of his own mistakes, often caught off-guard while trying to play his typical smashes against World No. 37 Wong Wing Ki Vincent. He won the initial game 21-16 but frequent unforced errors and lack of concentration at the centre came to the fore as Srikanth’s 29-year-old opponent from Hong Kong made full of the opportunity to claim the second game 18-21.The third game started off in a rather unceremonious fashion for the Indian favourite. He gave away a 6-1 lead, before catching up 8-8, only to fall back 17-11. It was then, backed by the roaring audience, Srikanth made a surreal comeback to snatch the match 21-19.advertisementSpeaking after his match, Srikanth admitted to making errors while expressing relief in leaving his opponent in the dust.”I am just very happy to get through this. At one point, I made a lot of errors but managed to control them. There was little drift on the court but I don’t think it was a troubling me. The court is of course different,” he told Mail Today.Praneeth, entering the tournament on back of a runner-up finish at the Swiss Open, started off on the wrong foot against teenager Gulshan Kumar Kartikey. The World No. 20 came back from a game down to beat the 19-year-old Gulshan 22-24, 21-13, 21-8.Olympic silver medallist Sindhu found little to no resilience from Agrey, beating her 21-8, 21-13 inside 23 minutes. The second seed will now take on Deng Joy Xuan, who beat Lyanny Alessandra Mainaky 21-12, 21-13.Prannoy continued his return to world-class badminton as he recovered from a game down to stun eight seed and World No. 17 Kantaphon Wanghcharoen 14-21, 21-18, 21-14 in a match that lasted 68 minutes.World No. 15 Sameer Verma overcame an early fight from Danish World No, 29 Rasmus Gemke to record a 21-18, 21-12 win and marched on to the second round.World No. 92 Riya Mookerjee also impressed in the first round as she beat Phittayaporn Chaiwan , ranked 86th in the world, 21-17, 21-15.Former champion Ratchanok Intanon and seasoned Chinese shuttler Li Xuerui also made strong starts to their campaigns in the morning session on Wednesday.Fourth-seeded Intanon comfortably beat India’s Sai Uttejitha Rao Chkka 21-9, 21-6. London Olympic gold medallist Xuerui, on the other hand, overcame a tough opponent in Nitchaon Jindapol with a 21-17, 21-11 scoreline.Third seed He Bingjiao needed 30 minutes to dismiss India’s Prashi Joshi 21-12, 21-15 and was joined by her compatriot Chen Xiaoxin following her 21-15, 21-11 victory over Yulia Yosephin Susanto.Get real-time alerts and all the news on your phone with the all-new India Today app. Download from Post your comment Do You Like This Story? An 80-run defeat to CSK in their penultimate league game made the difference. Nonetheless, if you are a Delhi Capitals fan, you would take it, wouldn’t you?Delhi Capitals though start as the overwhelming favourites in the Eliminator. Led by young Shreyas Iyer, Delhi have relied on batting firepower and Kagiso Rabada’s fiery spells to emerge as one of the favourites.Training. Preparing. Scoring 486 runs from 14 matches, the India opener has been consistent throughout the season at the top even as young Prithvi Shaw has failed to live up to expectations.advertisementWith 259 runs in 6 #VIVOIPL games, @SDhawan25 has the highest run tally by any player at #Vizag!Dilliwalon, kal ke Eliminator mein kya hoga Gabbar ka score? #DCvSRH #ThisIsNewDelhi #DelhiCapitals pic.twitter.com/ag1waUtOU9Delhi Capitals (@DelhiCapitals) May 7, 2019Shreyas Iyer has been another major highlight of Delhi’s batting performances. The skipper has scored 442 runs from 14 matches. Explosive wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, despite lacking last year’s consistency, has pitched in with a few match-winning cameos. At the start of the season, Delhi Capitals were hurt by frequent batting collapses but the senior campaigners in the team have been able to take more responsibility while the likes of Colin Ingram and Axar Patel have made handy contributions as well. The presence of Ricky Ponting and Sourav Ganguly at the dugout has also helped them immensely. While their batting looks solid, Kagiso Rabada’s absence has come as a huge blow to their bowling department. The South African pacer still holds the Purple Cap with 25 wickets from 12 matches but was ruled out of the remainder of the season due to a back injury.Ishant Sharma showed glimpses of a return to peak form in their five-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals and the India pacer will lead the pace attack which also has the likes of Chris Morris, Keemo Paul and Sherfane Rutherford.Delhi Capitals also have the luxury to employ a spin-dominant attack but that will depend solely on the Vizag pitch. Amit Mishra and Axar Patel have been standout performers, the availability of Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane gives them the extra flexibility.”I’ll just go for a wicket” – @MishiAmit talked about preparations for the Eliminator when we caught up with him last eveningShow your support for Mishi bhai, machao roar #ThisIsNewDelhi #DelhiCapitals #DCvSRH #IPL #IPL2019 pic.twitter.com/FHA17KXfL5Delhi Capitals (@DelhiCapitals) May 8, 2019On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad, who became the first IPL team to qualify for the playoffs with just 12 points, need to step up if they are to live to fight another day. It’s time for the playoffs and the boys have trained hard under the lights. All eyes will be on in-form Manish Pandey as he will be expected to do the bulk of scoring batting at No.3 yet again.Ready to head out all guns blazing! @Martyguptill #OrangeArmy #SRH #SunRisers #RiseWithUs pic.twitter.com/EeAhjwrk5JSunRisers Hyderabad (@SunRisers) May 7, 2019The middle order has been a concern with all-rounder Vijay Shankar and Yusuf Pathan struggling to get going but Sunrisers bowling unit is seemingly peaking at the right time and it is capable of making it up for the misfiring batting group.advertisementWhile Khaleel Ahmed and Bhuvneshwar Kumar shone with the ball in Bengaluru on Saturday, Afghanistan super Rashid Khan loves delivering on the big stages.Sunrisers have been here and done this before and the experience that they possess may help them overcome recent struggles against a relatively young Delhi Capitals side, which is in uncharted territory. Also Read | Both teams missing key players, it’s well-matched encounter: Shreyas IyerAlso Read | Riyan Parag to Alzarri Joseph: Youngsters who brought IPL 2019 aliveAlso Read | IPL 2019: Warner, Rabada and Russell chart-toppers after league stageAlso Read | Ashwin’s Mankading to Dhoni’s rage: Controversies that headlined IPL 2019For sports news, updates, live scores and cricket fixtures, log on to indiatoday.in/sports.
